When you read the title of this blog, what was your first thought? Tired of another person trying to tell you how to vote or did you have an expectation that you were going to read why candidates are good or bad? This is not that. What I would like to leave you with would be who the Word says we should desire to be in those places.
LIFE – Exodus 20:13, Psalm 139:13-16, Proverbs 6:17
The Lord values all life, in the womb and out of the womb. He commands is to not murder and detests the shedding of innocent blood.
ONE TRUE GOD – Exodus 20:3, Isaiah 44:6, John 14:6, Acts 4:12
There is one True and living God and Jesus is the only way. He need leaders who recognize Him as their Savior and seek Him in all things.
HONOR GOD’S DESIGN – Genesis 1:26,27, Matthew 19:4-6
God created man and woman with very distinct differences that should be celebrated. Being able to simply define each, by at minimum chromosome, should be answered clearly.
PARENTING – Deuteronomy 6:6-9, Proverbs 22:6, Ephesians 6:4
God has charges parents to raise children by nurture and admonition of the Lord. He has not given government that authority to supersede the parents in core, moral principles.
HELPING THE POOR – Deuteronomy 15:7, 2 Thessalonians 3:10, 1 Timothy 5:8, James 1:27
The Church and its people are called to help the poor, it is not the governments responsibility. However, the government can assist by lowering/eliminating tax and promoting work for able-bodied people. Doing so empowers the person to find value and self-worth and helps them see God as their personal provider.
GODLY GOVERNMENT – Isaiah 33:22, Romans 13:1-7. 1 Timothy 2:1,2
God has blessed us with this land and inspired our founding fathers to establish this Democratic Republic. God has called civil leaders ministers for righteousness and those are whom we need in those high places.
JUSTICE – Isaiah 9:6,7. Proverbs 23:10, Micah 6:8, Acts 17:26
Civil justice creates peace by allowing fair and balanced trials with appropriate punishment for the convicted. Intern this means secure borders to ensure all can be held to the same standard.

Two of the biggest mistakes we can make are by voting for a party rather than principles and candidates, and by not voting at all. There will be no perfect candidate to represent us and God without fault. We simply are to do our research on each person (not regurgitate what others say) and ask the Holy Spirit for direction. When men and women who seek the Lord are set in those places of power, we can and will see God’s blessing.
Simply put, we reap what we sow. Regardless of who wins, pray for them. If there is no evidence of God in their life, pray for their salvation. Christians are called to be different than the world. The world would tell you to just moan and groan about them and write nasty things on social media, but God says to pray for our leaders (1 Timothy 2:1-4). As we get to election day, start praying who to vote for and what bills (if any) and how to vote for them. Seek the Holy Spirit, He will not let you down!
One note, these points were pulled from Bishop Kelvin Cobaris Voter’s Guide and tailored.
Take advantage of the blessing that is voting!
