“Do not say, ” I will repay evil”; Wait [expectantly] for the Lord, and He will rescue you.” Proverbs 20:22
The assassination of Charlie Kirk is something the church needs to address. He was first a child of God, a son, husband, father, mentor, and friend to many. The truth of it all, is that he was martyred for speaking his faith. Yes he talked extensively about politics like many in the arena he was in, however no one brought it back to Christ like he did.
He challenged people to think for themselves and choose an eternal life with Christ or an eternity apart. He knew of and spoke often of the danger he was in and knew this was a possibility. The threat of death did not make him waiver from his faith and what happened to him has happened to countless. Christians are killed around the world still but this is not something that is supposed to happen in the United States of America.
Let this not be a time we as believers turn cold and hard-hearted. We are not called to riot and loot and to do so would dishonor Charlie’s memory and most importantly dishonor the Father. As difficult as this is at anytime, we are called to pray for his surviving family and yes, even the shooter and his family. He needs to face justice but we should hope God touches him and he repents and turns himself in.
and never return evil for evil or insult for insult [avoid scolding, berating, and any kind of abuse], but on the contrary, give a blessing [pray for one another’s well-being, contentment, and protection]; for you have been called for this very purpose, that you might inherit a blessing [from God that brings well-being, happiness, and protection]. 1 Peter 3:9
I have personally never met the brother on this earth but I know I will meet him in glory. Let us all give a good account on how his death gave us all clarify that it is a possibility for any outspoken believer. Let us remember that death has no sting, as we have already died from self to serve the Almighty. His was are higher and well beyond our understanding. Let us make the enemy regret this move and let us see tremendous numbers of salvations and rededications to His glory.
It’s past time for the church to rise and speak truth as we see in the Bible. Hate the sin but love the sinner. Have conversations and not fights and let those conversations be a 2-way street. Most importantly, bring it BACK to the Word of God which is Jesus. We serve Christ, not self, not a man walking on this earth, no kings or kingdoms.
Remember what Charlie said… “God, family, country. In that order.”
