Sunday morning as I was preparing for my message, I was reminded that it was the first day of pride month. As I pondered the sadness of people promoting pride and being proud of following the lies and deception of Satan, the Holy Spirit prompted me how to counter act this. Believers should come against pride with humility.
So, as God’s own chosen people, who are holy [set apart, sanctified for His purpose] and well-beloved [by God Himself], put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience [which has the power to endure whatever injustice or unpleasantness comes, with good temper] Colossians 3:12 AMP
First and most importantly, this is not against any person, persons or group. This is the simple truth of the Gospel that we ALL have sinned and fallen short of the Lords desire for our life. However, the church should not be a proponent of any sin and certainly not elevate it. I went to school with a lot of guys and gals that were homosexual and was very close to many, or as close as I could have been to anyone then due to my own issues.
Simply I am saying the church is called to lovingly caution folks of things that have eternal impact. We are also called to address the Church first as read in 1 Thessalonians 5:14. If you disagree that the church should be held to these issues first, I ask you how can we ask someone else to follow what the word say if we won’t do it ourself? If we truly love our brothers and sisters in Christ we need to show that love by giving the tough love as needed. The church needs to get itself together first and we do that by humbling ourselves to the Lord!
Humble yourselves [with an attitude of repentance and insignificance] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up, He will give you purpose].” James 4:10 AMP
Let the church rise up with humility, repentance and thanksgiving that He still offers us forgiveness of our sins. I encourage any Believer and especially church that reads this to spend June seeking that the church would humble itself before it is humbled (Matthew 23:12). When we can show the people that we are loving and being there for our own people, we then will have a shot with the unbeliever. How will we have a chance? Because the argument that the church is full of hypocrites will be nullified for at least this this topic.
And have mercy on some, who are doubting; save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh. Jude 22,23 AMP
With love, with care, with the fear of the Lord we should go after those who have fallen into sin. Wither it is alcohol, drugs, homosexuality, pornography, gossiping, and even taking the Lords name in vein. God wants to see even those who blaspheme Him repent and rejoin Him in glory. We are all name in His image and children of the Most High. Forgo the finger pointing and get on your knees in prayer, they are worth it.
With love and care,
Pastor Robert
