Our individual call has multiple layers and as we uncover one, we see a new. Our call has many places for it to take place but we need to acknowledge that call and set our signs to that open path. When we set our sights to follow the path that the Lord opens up for us, His desire for our individual call can come forward. We cannot be focused on self and what we want, but focused on the best ways to show God’s unconditional love (agape). His unconditional love is how you are able to have live eternal and walk out your unique call
The call we all have
We all have one common call and that is to the great commission. With the direction Jesus gave us, we can set our feet on the path to be revealed more of what we are supposed to do. The great commission looks different to each of us depending on where we live, our jobs, family, and of course our maturity in Christ. If you work a 9-5, stay-at-home mom, in school, or if you’re between jobs and try to see God move in the middle of it, that is your mission field. Take that opportunity to encourage and build up those around you, share your testimony, show people how to get to the cross, and then walk it our with them.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually–regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28: 19,20 AMP
Finding your unique call
The first word in Matthew 28:19 is GO, so go. I’m not saying leave the home and never return but you can’t make disciples if you never meet anyone. When you go out to the store, work, school, etc. seek opportunities to share God’s word. As you put yourself out there to be a walking epistle (2Corinthians 3:2,3) and are open and honest with people, the holy Spirit will encourage you to keep at it. Will you misspeak? yeah. Will you offend someone accidentally? of course. Will you purposedly offend? I hope not. The point is to keep at it, and as you do your call will start becoming clearer.
Keep pressing forward down the path God has for you and don’t allow Satan to steal that from you. Satan wants to take as many people down with the proverbial ship as possible, it’s our responsibility to share the Light. If someone chooses to ignore then there isn’t anything we can do but still keep on trying. No one is a throwaway in the eyes of the Creator, and sometime we need to remind each other of that.
Use your call in the local church
We need the local church just like it needs us. Hording your call will do no one any good and while you can go at it alone, there is power in unity! God wants the church to be in unity, He even finds it pleasant (Psalms 133:1). Find a local church that you can use your gifting, but don’t force it. Get engaged first and that call will make room for itself. A local church that does something is imperative to growing your call, regardless of your age or the pastor’s age. If you go in with a teachable heart and an open mind to the Word of God, you will walk away with something. Apart of my call is getting people to see their call and their mission field. So this coming Sunday, if you don’t have a church home so do some visiting. If you do have a church home, ask the Lord to use you. He will, just be patient in the waiting
Be excited for what God has for you and enjoy the journey finding your calling!
